Basically Getting your posts from your massage business fan page into the eyes of your fans is getting more difficult each year and 2015 it will be worse than ever.
In 2014, Facebook has limited what people actually see in their newsfeed and controls the newsfeed.
If you didn’t figure it out last year, it is just really more of the same this year.
The way to get more people to see your posts is to create posts that people like to share, like and comment on. That’s it!
But oh wait…. the stuff people like to share are really funny little things like cat massage videos or funny cat massaging dog pictures. They also really like to share inspirational quotes or quotes that hit home for them. When it comes down to it, it is usually quotes that make people feel better about themselves or make fun of something…but then what if you really have a great tip or some great information that you want to share like the secret to getting rid of carpal tunnel or plantar fasciaiitis? What if you have the best tips for health and longevity?
Well it has really come down to you have to pay Facebook to get those posts into the eyes of your fans…but that isn’t really worth it from what I have learned after taking about 6 different classes on Facebook marketing this past year.
If you want to advertise on Facebook, it needs to have a money-making purpose like getting a client to sign up for a massage.
If you want to fill your open spots, you can try posting it on Facebook. If that doesn’t work, then try a Facebook ad. The ads work sort of like the posts do though- the more shares, likes and comments a post gets, the LESS you pay per engagment and overall so the basic message is that it still needs to make people want to know more or share. (Sharing actually gets you the most bang for your bucks – then likes/comments.)
You still will need to create an ad that makes people want to engage with it so that even more will see it, even if you are paying to get the post seen more.
Facebook has told us that what Facebook readers want to see is more posts from their friends and family.
People told us they wanted to see more stories from friends and Pages they care about, and less promotional content.
So what is promotional content?
According to Facebook it is:
- Posts that solely push people to buy a product or install an app
- Posts that push people to enter promotions and sweepstakes with no real context
- Posts that reuse the exact same content from ads
But then what about the posts that you make that are providing people tips for their health and information that you post about how/why massage works etc? These posts seem to get lost too because only a small amount of people seem to be interested in stuff like that.
What people want on Facebook is to be entertained…so just do that. Post the cute cat videos and crazy snake massage videos for entertainment and to build a following.
If you want a better source of clients then focus on your website in 2015 and make sure that it is doing the heavy lifting of getting you most of your clients so you don’t have to play the Facebook game…well you probably will have more time to spend playing on Facebook when your schedule is more full of clients and you don’t have to spend so much time with marketing. Just let your website do the work for you!
Just think about it:
Pretend you are a potential client. Where do you look if you wanted to find a massage therapist for yourself?
Would you go to Facebook? ….well. No.
You would go to Google. So now more than ever, your website will need to show up on the top of the first page of results of Google. It does take some doing to make that happen, but I have created most everything you need to do just that.
